Today, we want to give you a tour of our website, LinkyHere, and give you a few tips on how to use it to your advantage. If you notice on our home page, there are three avenues that you can take into our website. We’ll explain each one and tell you how you can get the most information from them.
Find a Link Party
This is one of the most widely used avenues into our site. It’s the reason LinkyHere was created….to give you, the blogger, a place to come to when you have something to share with other bloggers. A link party is a way for one blogger (the host) to allow other bloggers (the guests) to share their projects, recipes, blog posts, etc. with each other. LinkyHere wants to encourage and enhance that experience.
At the top of every page of our site you will see all of the ways you can search for a link party to share at. These are simply guidelines to aid in your search.
For example, let’s say that you have a delicious and unique chocolate cake recipe that you want to share. Since it’s Sunday, you could click on the word “sunday” in the blue “by day” bar above to find a list of link parties that are occurring on a Sunday. The page that you land on will list all of the Sunday link parties, organized by theme or type of party that they are (i.e. diy, food, fashion, etc.). YOU will then choose which link party to share your recipe at. Simply clicking the party’s thumbnail picture will take you to the blog hosting the party.
Alternatively, you can search for a link party by what theme or type that party is. Since you have a cake recipe you can click on “food” in the white “by theme” bar at the top of the page to find a list of food link parties. These parties will be further organized by which day of the week that they occur on. Again, clicking on the thumbnail picture of the party will take you to the blog hosting the party. Also remember, certain types of link parties accept more than one type of entry. For example, your cake recipe may be shared in the food and diy categories.
Do You Host a Link Party?
If you are a link party host, listing your party at the LinkyHere site is easy to do and FREE. Simply click on the day of your party (on the blue “by day” bar at the top of the page) and link up your party to the corresponding party theme….diy, food, fashion, etc. If your link party accepts entries for more than one category (i.e. diy and food) then you may link it up to both categories. If you don’t think your link party fits in any of our specified themes, then link it up to the “general” category.
Recently, we added a social media and blog hop category to our site. These types of link parties are growing in popularity and can be a great way to expand a blog’s social network and fan base.
Update 9/21/12 On Sept. 1, 2012, we added a giveaway page to the LinkyHere directory! Now you can list your blog’s latest giveaway(s) with us so people will be able to discover and enter them more easily. Listing your giveaway is simple. Just click on the word “giveaway” on the top navigation bar and you’ll find detailed instructions at the top of the giveaway page. We frequently refresh this page so current giveaways are always listed. We’re happy to bring this new feature to you….just another way that LinkyHere brings bloggers together!
Stop by the Blog
The blog at LinkyHere is a place where we can introduce bloggers and their link parties to everyone. We love to feature link party hosts and allow you to discover the person behind the blog…to get to know them better. Our goal is to connect bloggers and encourage them to communicate and share with each other. We also turn our comment section OFF for guest bloggers and encourage the reader to visit the guest blogger’s website for communication. It’s our way of bringing readers and potential followers to the guest blogger’s website/blog.
In the next coming weeks, we will post a series on link parties. We will discuss everything from why you should join a link party to the proper link party etiquette. If you have any questions about link parties, please email them to us at linkyhere@gmail.com. We want to answer any questions you may have as well as share it with our readers. After all, our site was designed to help you connect with other bloggers and enhance the growth of your blog.
